Sure if you have the wind at your back all is good but that limits how and what you can fish. The get down there even though they are small.Ĭomments: Like the bait but just way too light on a windy day to even attempt to cast against the wind and get any distance. On lakes Helsinki Shad or Crawdad work well for me. For my local rivers Live Pumpkinseed/Bluegill are my favs along with Crawdad for stained water. Great walleye and trout lure too, anything will hit it that eats fish.įrom: Tyler P: Grand Junction, CO 3/21/20Ĭomments: These are my fav cold water cranks. ![]() But I ALWAYS have one tied on for cold water in clear to stained water. I change out the hooks to round bend gamakatsus as well. Yes it's light and doesn't cast well, even the 7, so it needs spinning gear with 6 to 8 pound line and a good rod for throwing light cranks. Also good in any conditions where you have calm, clear water and bright bluebird skies. BIGGINSĬomments: The best coldwater finesse crank in existence. Love red for early spring get the markers out if you want different colors. that's how it started it all.now I can't fit any more lures in my tackle boxes!!!! I advise you to get one today!!!!!! get crawdad, silver,or shad!!!!!Ĭomments: Crawdad color has produced my best walleye days with numbers and quality trolling and casting. Caught my personal best on this in Ikes demon color SR5 size.Ĭomments: its a great 's what i caught my first bass on a size five purpledescent rapala shad rap. Hope this helps someone.Ĭomments: This thing works great!! its a great cold water crank, I have been using it since febuary and have been hammering bass. These things don't cast far but, with the Suspen Strips, they seem to go further. Yes, very lake specific but, if you can find this type of setup, it's a great technique in the Winter! Gonna tie on the 07 so I can get the bait down faster without wasting 1/2 my cast. Luckily, I don't have any lay downs or logs to worry about. I put a little stronger leader (12 lb) on it because, I'm basically trying to get it caught up. I'm not sure if they're hitting it when it contacts the grass, when I rip it out or when the bait stirs up the silt like a craw. My lake is a sand bottom with a layer of silt and some matted and other grass. Cast it out, found a grass line in 3-5" of water and reeled it into the grass. ![]() (Later changed it to a slow rise for when it bumps into structure) I sanded down the varnish a little to dull the bait as I'm using it in the Winter when bait loses some of it's color. First, I weighted the bait with Suspen Strip material to make it almost suspend, with a slow fall. I prefer size 5Ĭomments: Started fishing the Shad Rap 06 in Bluegill and figured something out at my local lake. I will be buying more.Ĭomments: My favorite cold weather crankbait. they always produce.Ĭomments: Outstanding lures with an effective profile. that and the silver color are all you need for the lakes in my area.
